Staff Spotlight: Bianca Jaimes

Welcome to our "Staff Spotlight" series! In this collection of ongoing posts on The Western Blog, we shine a light on the incredible individuals who make Western special! From passionate trainers & instructors to knowledgeable nutritionists and tennis pros, and many other dedicated staff members, we'll introduce you to the talented team behind the scenes. Learn about their expertise and background, plus some fun facts!

Our staff member in the spotlight this week: Membership Director Bianca Jaimes! You may know her as one of the friendly faces you see in one of the “fish bowl” offices as you head to the locker room or giving tours to prospective new members, but did you also know she once read 30 books in 30 days?

Q: How long have you been at Western?
A: Over 8 years! I started in October of 2015.

Q: What is your title/job description at Western?
A: Membership Director

Q: What made you want to work at Western?
A: Actually, I knew nothing about Western until I came in for my interview! But once I got here, man, it's easy to fall in love with our members.

Q: What is your favorite activity to do at Western?
A: Yoga with Amy X.

Q: What is your favorite kind of workout?
A: One that involves China Gel at the end.

Q: Do you participate in any fitness activities outside of Western?
A: Swimming

Q: What’s your favorite non-fitness hobby (or hobbies)?
A: Reading and food stuff 😍

Q: What motivates you?
A: Mostly food!

Q: Who inspires you?
A: In the club? Kari Merrill, no question. She's like staring into the sun, blinding, but you can't help but be touched by her light. She has the most extraordinary heart, which she openly and often uses to serve our members, community, and any animal within her reach. That sort of kindness, vulnerability, and sheer passion is rare.

Q: If you could work out with any famous person, who would you pick?
A: Not really a star struck type of person, but maybe a comedian, to distract me with humor. Can they be dead? Betty White would be a good time, not sure I could keep up with her though.

Q: Do you have a favorite quote or any words of wisdom you can share?
A: “Dude, you’re embarrassing me in front of the wizards.” - Tony Stark, Avengers: Infinity War

Q: What’s the most interesting place you’ve ever visited?
A: The City Museum in St. Louis. That place is insane.

Q: What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to?
A: Avenged Sevenfold. The lead singer has a fantastic voice that the radio does not do justice to.

Q: What’s your favorite junk food?
A: Bread

Q: What is one thing on your bucket list?
A: I would love to swim with sharks, in the most non-threatening way possible.

Q: What’s the best part of your job?
A: Connecting with members.

Q: What’s something you’re proud of?
A: All my successful cooking and baking creations!

Q: What are some fun facts about you?
A: Love to read, mostly mystery/thrillers, and watch action movies. Once I read 30 books in 30 days. I have 3 cats, Arya, Snickers, and Binks.
